Well fans this was the big one.................
The much anticipated final game between two of Birminghams best Mite house teams.
In goal for the Jaags was Nathan Glime and he peaked at the right time. Nathan had an outstanding game in net letting up only one goal on the way to the taking home the championship. The game was a close one with exciting action at both ends of the ice. The Jaags really came together as a team on the way to a 3-1 victory over the Pancake House team.
Blake Salesin playing defense for the Jaags had one of his best games of the season scoring two goals to give the Jaags the lead 2-1 going into the early part of the third period. But it took outstanding team defense in the last two minutes of the game with the Jaags having to kill a penalty to stop the Pancakes.
Josh Sherman sealed the deal with a goal in the last minute of play to make it 3-1 and bring the cup home to the Jaags. It was a total team effort on defense by Sam Zack, Mott brothers and Jack Harris. The offense was aggressive the whole game by keeping the puck in the offensive zone for most of the third period.
It was a great season for the Jaags and we wish the players well in the future.
I can speak for the other coaches in saying it was a pleasure coaching all the players this season.
The effort they gave was excellent and the competetive spirit really shined. Thank you for allowing me to help coach your kids, keep them skating and enjoy the rest of the year.
Thanks again,
Coach Brian

Playoffs
Jaag Fans-
The Jaags lost a close one Saturday Morning 2-1 against Birmingham #1 team. The only goal scored by the Jaags was by Josh Sherman. The game was well fought by the Jaags, but in the end they just came up a little short. Excellent goaltending by Birmingham Team #1 may have been the difference.
A solid effort by Josh Sherman, Sam Zack, the Mott Boys and many of the other players including excellent goaltending by our own Nathan Glime. The Jaags really showed that even if the score is not in there favor they will try hard up until the end of the game.
The Jaags play Sunday Morning and they will be ready to play.

January 24th 2010 JAAGs vs. Birmingham #4
The Winning Streak Continues...................
The JAAG's team continues its winning ways. The final score 7-4. It was another team effort with solid play at both ends of the ice for the JAAGs. Josh Sherman (3 goals) and Blake Salesin (4 goals) were both explosive on the offense. Donovan Sclabasi had a very solid performance in net for the JAAGS stopping many shots.
Coach Sherman has his players playing as a very cohesive unit limiting mistakes and allowing the offense to flourish.
"Another solid team effort" remarks Coach Sherman.
The JAAGs have a rematch with Birmingham #4 next Sunday at 8am.
See you all on Sunday.

JAAG Fans-
The JAAGs had a great game on Sunday Morning. It was a very competitive game with the JAAG's pulling out the victory 2-1. Blake Salesin scored both goals for the JAAGs, but it was the strong defensse play by the defense and goalie that made the difference down the stretch. It was a see-saw game up to the very end. Birmingham #3 pulled their goalie with over a minute left in the game but was not able to put it in the net.
Coach Sherman was extremely pleased with his team's effort and considered this game the best of the season.
The JAAGs face off against Birmingham #4 on Saturday.

January 16th JAAGvs Royal Oak
The JAAGs visited Royal Oak on Saturday morning to take on one of Royal Oaks Mite teams.
After last weekends win over DSC the Jaags seemed fired up to keep the winning streak going. Royal Oak got an early goal to make it 1-0 but the JAAGS came roaring back with two straight goals one by Josh Sherman playing center and one Blake Salesin on defense to make it 2-1 after one period of play.
However, the second and third periods were not so productive for the JAAGS both offensively and defensively giving up five more goals to loss 7-2. The JAAGs seemed to loss some intensity in those periods and the depth of the Royal Oak team was too much for the JAAGs to handle. One bright note was the solid goaltending by Nate Glime. He had many key saves in the game.
Coach Sherman felt the team came up short on positioning in the game and said "we had a very strong first period, but the Royal Oak team was able to get behind the defense on more than one occasion allowing for good goal scoring opportunities." He also went on to say that the Royal Oak goaltending was exceptional and really made it diffiicult for us to put points on the board.
The JAAGs have a league game against Birmingham on Sunday.

Saturday January 9th JAAG's v. USA 2 DSC
JAAGS WIN JAAGS WIN
Birmingham JAAGS posted a 3-2 win Saturday morning for its first non-league victory of the season. The JAAGS have had many close and competitive games this season with both Royal Oak and DSC teams but up until today they came up short.
The JAAGs played an excellent all around game. Blake Salesin, playing defense got the JAAGS off to an early one goal lead in the first period with a wrap around goal. This was following by Sam Zack, also playing defense, with his first goal of the season making it 2-0. The USA team fought back to make it 2-1.
However, the JAAGS never let up and Josh Sherman came up big to make it 3-1. The USA team came back again to make it 3-2 in the third period, but the JAAGs playing both solid defense and an aggressive style offense were able to shut down the USA team.
Coach Sherman said this was his teams best all around effort!. "The boys really played with a lot of heart and it payed off." "The forwards were in on the play in the offense zone for most of the game and really came up big with aggressive back checking to help out the defense at the home stretch."
The JAAG's have a practice Sunday morning and will be on the ice next weekend for another game.

Sunday December 20th JAAG's vs. R.O.
Well JAAG fans it was another good game on Sunday morning. The JAAG's played a very tough Royal Oak team and lost 5-0. In goal for the JAAGs was Nathan Glime. He had another outstanding game is already being scouted by the Junior Wings as a future prospect. The JAAG's got off to a slow start getting behind 3-0 at the end of the first period, but seemed to dominate most of the next two periods with numerous shots on goal, but none seem to find the back of the net.
The defense continuous to improve especially with the play of the Mott boys. A solid effort by both Sam Zack and Blake Salesin put significant pressure on Royal Oak's defense by keeping the puck in the offensive zone during most of the game. The offense is starting to come into its own and continues to improve its scoring chances.
The JAAG's had a practice last night and will have a much needed rest for the next two weeks.
We will see you all next year!!!!!!!
